Sinful Colors Sugar Rush Collection

Hello again, today I did a lot of playing with my nails. I did four different things today, some were a fail and some were a win. I'll show you my win first because this is still on my nails! :) I was feeling "springy" since the sun was shining and snow was melting. I think this would be a cute look all by itself for Easter, but I'm thinking about adding something to it. I'll save that surprise for closer to Easter though!!

Let's start into the pictures....I'm excited to show these off!

This picture was taken with the flash on and it makes the color look almost neon.

This picture was taken with no flash and the color looks much closer to the way it actually looks on my nails.

I'll start with the color on my thumb, this is Sweet Tooth. I love this shade of purple, it's a light lavender shade. I ended up having to use 3 coats to full coverage. I had a little trouble getting it to go on smooth but, I'm going to blame that on operator error. Keep in mind this was my 4th mani for the day and I did all this using a desk lamp, my eyes were killing me.

My index finger is sporting Unicorn. It's a beautiful shade of yellow, not overpowering but not too dainty. It does go on very light so I had to do 3 coats to get good coverage, I actually considered doing another one but decided I was happy with the way it looked. This happens to be one of my hubby's favorites from this collection.

My middle finger is showing off Sugar Rush, the name sake for this collection. It's a great light blue, when I first saw it I immediately thought of blue cotton candy! This is another light color that took 3 coats to achieve full coverage.

My ring finger got the honor of wearing Sugar-N-Spice, this is one of my favorites! (Who am I kidding, I LOVE them all!!) This is a color that I describe as being a dull hot pink, if that makes any sense. This one only took 2 coats for full coverage and it went on beautifully. Sugar-N-Spice is a great shade for any age to wear, if you like pink you need this polish!

On my pinkie is Sweet Nothing. This is a pretty teal color. I only had to use 2 coats to get full coverage with this color as well. It went on smooth and evenly.

Well, there are the first 5 colors in the Sugar Rush collection. Now on to my right hand for the final 3 colors. :)

This picture was taken with the flash off. This is as close to true as I could get, my index finger is just a little darker than this appears and my middle finger is a little darker as well.

This picture was taken with the flash on. My thumb looks blue but it is has more of a purple in it than it looks, My index finger is pretty close to the actual color so is my middle finger. My ring finger and pinkie are not this dark.

On my thumb I am wearing Candy Coated, it is a bluish purple color. I got a few compliments on this one today while I was out doing my errands. This went on nicely with 2 coats, but again I was having trouble getting it to go on even. I go back to operator error because it was on both of my thumbs I had problems.

On my index finger I have Orange Cream, this color was named aptly. It is a beautiful creamy orange. It went on great with 2 coats, no problems. This was my husbands other favorite in this collection!

On my middle finger I'm wearing Cotton Candy, it does remind me a little of cotton candy but I think it's a little bit darker than that. This color again went on wonderfully with just 2 coats, no issues. (see, I think my thumbs were just because of me)

My ring finger is Sweet Nothing and my pinkie is Sugar-N-Spice, I started over since there are only 8 colors in this collection :)

Well, there are all 8 colors in the Sinful Colors Sugar Rush Collection. I'm done for tonight but I will try and do more tomorrow. I will be listing all of the Sinful Colors polishes I got last week from Walgreens. Be prepared, it's a lot!! :)

Night all

I wanted to share some pics of my nail mail....I love these days!!

I received my first Julep Maven box! I wanted everyone to see how pretty it was when I first opened it. It was all packaged very beautifully. The pink bag with the bow are the add-on that I ordered and the extra polish that I couldn't live without!!

My actual maven intro box contained these beauties. In the front is Julep's Daylight Defense lip balm. In the back starting from left to right is Meryl, Barbara and cuticle oil.

The polishes in the back from left to right are my add-on, Sienna, and my extra polish, Viola. Viola is a beautiful dark plum color.

My Valentines Mani

My nails were naked for V-Day so I decided to try one the weekend after. I saw a mani similar to this on YouTube done by PixiePolish. I used Orly Dazzle for the base and then I used Folkart Neon Pink acrylic paint and Apple Barrel Black acrylic paint. I used a toothpick to make the designs. I was afraid it would be a bit difficult to remove the acrylic paint but, when I took it off this morning it was a breeze!

Sorry this one was so short but I'm trying to get caught up! :)

My First Water Marble

I'm sorry I have been so behind lately on my blog posts. I will be doing several of them this weekend to get caught up. These will be shorter ones simply because I have so many I want to get done!

Ok ladies, this was my first attempt at doing a water marble. I swore I would never do it again because it was so time consuming. I only did one hand it took me about an hour. Since I did this I have seen so many pretty ones that I actually think I will keep trying. I have been told over and over that this technique takes a lot of practice.

The colors I used for this were Nina Cherri Berri and OPI If You Moust You Moust (this is from the Minnie Mouse Collection). I used four drops of each color, alternating the colors.

Get Ready To Click Your Heels Together

Ok ladies, I told you I was going to put up another post about the gorgeous red I found....well, here it is!!

This is China Glaze Ruby Pumps. I used my Seche clear for the base (as always) and then I applied two coats of color and topped it off with seche Vite (again as always) After I finished with the first coat I realized I could stop there. It gave full coverage with one coat, but I did notice that, although it covered completely and it was definitely red, it almost had a pink under tone to it. Don't get me wrong, it was still beautiful and it definitely would been fine to stop after one coat, I just wanted to try one more coat. After applying the second coat the red really popped and the "pink" was gone. I'm sorry to say that no matter how I tried to get these pictures, I just can't properly give this color the credit that it deserves!!
WOW, does it have some great sparkle! I'm not a huge fan of straight red on my nails, but this made me actually smile at my hands! I was amazed by how much the light catches on this, it's just....WOW!!!!!!!

I have to thank my sister for letting me borrow this. She bought this last night and had it put on her toes, which was super cute, and I wanted to try it on my nails. I know what my next purchase is going to be!! :)

Yay for new polishes

I went shopping and got my toes done last night with my sister! We had a blast and got some great stuff at Sally Beauty Supply...I love that place! :) Here's my haul....

The polishes I got last night are from left to right:
China Glaze Liquid Leather
Orly Dazzle
China Glaze Black Diamond
China Glaze Rose Among Thorns (NEON)
I also finally purchased nail wheels so I can start practicing some of the designs I have in my head and get swatches of some of the colors I already own. I'm hoping that helps me so I have a better idea what each color is going to look like on my nails. Many times what the polish looks like in the bottle is much different than what it looks like on the nail.
I also grabbed a file. I was in serious need of a new one, my old one was just a cheapy file that only worked about twice and then it did nothing.

I'll try and get swatches up of the colors soon so everyone can see the colors out of the bottle. I'm excited about using Rose Among Thorns because that's the color I think I'm wearing for my Vegas trip. I'm confused now though because I found another super pretty red, I fell in love. I'll be putting up another post all about that red :)

Time to start fresh

Doing the dishes is not kind to a manicure, I suppose it's my own fault though. Does anybody else use their nails as a "scraper"? lol

I guess this means I'll have to take this polish off and do another that really hurts my feelings!!!

I suppose while I'm at it I might as well trim my nails down. I love the length but, they are starting to get in the way. At least this way they will be grown back out some for my vegas get away!!

New kid on the blog

Hi all......

This is my first blog post! I'm super excited about all that I've been doing lately. I just created my own Facebook page as well (same name as blog) so feel free to check it out if you'd like. I have to say a huge "Thank you" to Mavoreen's Lacquer Obsession, without all her help, none of this would have happened! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

I have always loved painting my nails, ever since I was little! My mom probably didn't always appreciate the spilled polish but, now that she asks me to do her nails, maybe she feels it was worth it! LOL I am always trying to come up with new designs and techniques, whether it's just stuff that comes out of my head or things that I have looked up on other people's blogs or Youtube.

I don't claim to be great at it but, I must do a pretty good job...I have had many people tell me my nails look professionally done and I have had several ask me to do their nails for them. I would love to go back to school for my nail tech certification so I could do this full time but, right now that's just not going to happen. For now I will settle on doing my own nails as well as my daughter's, my mom's and my sister in laws! Not only do I have fun doing it but what better way to spend time with some awesome people! I find doing my own nails to be very relaxing....when you have kids any "mommy time" you can find is a God send!

Here's a little bit of a background on me:

I am 34 years old, was born and raised in the same small town I STILL live in, I'm married to an awesome guy (who actually helps me pick polish colors and designs :) ), He is an Army veteran (served 13 years) and we have been married for 5 years (6 in June).

Kids- I have four children (3 boys, 1 girl). My oldest is 18 and my youngest is 11....get this, My oldest graduates this year, my next one graduates next year, the third graduates 3 years later and my youngest graduates three years after that! Whew that made me tired just saying it!!

And for those of you doing the math on their ages (lol) the youngest is my biological child, the oldest are my husbands biological children....My husband adopted my son and I adopted his three. As far as I'm concerned.... I HAVE FOUR KIDS!!!! There has never been a division of "my kids/your kids", from the start they were "our kids"!!!

WOW, I think I covered everything except what I had for breakfast this morning lol

I'll leave it at that for now and I will post more later!!
